2020 Broaden Your Shelf Reading Challenge

In August 2015, the Bulverde Area Rural Library District (BARLD) Trustees formed a Building Committee made up of members of the Trustees, Friends and Foundation of the Library, library staff, and other designated stakeholders, to find a company to help the District develop a 10 year Master Plan to help guide the Trustees. The committee developed an Request for Qualifications and used a rubric to determine the best qualified firm to handle the plan.

In November 2015, the BARLD contracted with Dewberry & Associates to develop a 10 Year Master Plan for the library. Over the next few months, Denelle Wrightson, the Dewberry architect, and her team studied the demographics and projected growth of our community served by the Library District in Western Comal County. They held public forums, forums with community stakeholders, and a charrette with the building committee. Boards were put up in the library and staff ensured that library users were encouraged to rate their most important library needs and desires. A survey was put up on the website and sent out to community members seeking input for the plan.

See below for the completed study and recommendations by Dewberry & Associates.  The Trustees are now seeking community input to determine if this plan is, in fact, what the community would like to see in their library for the future.
